    Who runs what

    Four district operators, and the roads between them

    The Road Transport Department names a contracted operator for each district and a separate operator for journeys between the major towns. A trip that crosses a district edge is two plans, one per operator.

    The island, one district at a time

    Five stretches of the island and the four district operators that run them. Each place carries the status its published service earns: scheduled through the week, or conditional (seasonal, rural, or days this guide does not publish).

    The airport and the seafront

    Larnaca, two journeys in one town

    Cyprus Public Transport runs Larnaca district. Its route 425 links Larnaca Airport with Larnaca Station, Foinikoudes and other city stops without a change. Intercity Buses leaves from the Nikolaidis Building for Nicosia and Limassol, and none of its routes serves the terminal. For another town straight from arrivals, Kapnos and Limassol Airport Express run pre-booked shared shuttles.

    The capital

    Nicosia, where three corridors start

    Three Intercity corridors leave from Solomou Square: to Limassol, to Larnaca and to Paphos. Selected Limassol departures call at Choirokoitia, by the Neolithic settlement, and some Larnaca departures at Alampra. Inside the city and the district, Cyprus Public Transport publishes the journey planner, routes and maps; do not assume its ticket covers the Intercity leg.

    Between the coast and the mountains

    Limassol, the middle of the coast road

    EMEL runs Limassol district, and Intercity Buses meets it at New Port with corridors east to Larnaca and Nicosia and west to Paphos. Two EMEL services make day trips. Route 16 runs from Leontiou station through Episkopi to Kourion Beach, below the ancient site rather than at it. A rural corridor serves the Troodos area, where the return direction is the part to confirm before leaving.

    The west

    Paphos, and the two lines north

    Intercity Buses links Paphos with Limassol and Nicosia at the Karavella terminal. From Paphos, OSYPA runs separate lines to Coral Bay and to Polis: two lines, not one through route, so the destination shown on the bus matters. Karavella and Kato Paphos are both hubs, holiday timetables differ on most OSYPA routes, and the Polis category on the operator’s site also covers Latchi.

    The east coast

    Ayia Napa to Protaras, by way of Cape Greco

    OSEA runs the government-controlled Famagusta district. Its routes 101 and 102 run the coast road in opposite directions between Ayia Napa and Protaras, calling at Cape Greco and Konnos between them, on a seasonal timetable: the checked 2026 season runs from 25 May to 31 October. Cape Greco is an intermediate stop, not a dedicated shuttle, so the direction decides which resort comes next.

    The Intercity corridors join Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos through the week, route 425 links Larnaca Airport with the city, and district lines reach Ayia Napa, Cape Greco and Protaras, Kourion Beach, the Troodos area, Coral Bay and Polis.

    Where it does not

    This guide publishes no bus from Larnaca Airport to the other towns (pre-booked shuttles fill that gap), none to the archaeological site at Kourion itself, and only a rural, check-first service into the mountains. It covers scheduled services in the government-controlled areas of the Republic of Cyprus only.

    Which operator should I check?

    Use Cyprus Public Transport for Nicosia and Larnaca, EMEL for Limassol, OSYPA for Paphos and Polis, OSEA for Ayia Napa and Protaras, and Intercity Buses between major towns.

    Does Cyprus Bus Guide show live departures?

    No. The available iPhone and Android apps provide bundled scheduled departures that work offline, not live departures. Use current operator tools and official apps for live or changing service information.

    Why do these pages show so few departure times?

    Those details can change and are published by several separate operators. The guide directs you to the responsible current source rather than presenting a copied value as permanent. The one-way Intercity fares it does show are the operator's published fares, each with the month it was checked. The destination pages show first and last times and trip counts for one dated week, from the Ministry of Transport's open timetable data, and say on each line whether it was compared with the operator's own timetable.
